Henry Dasson, A fine and Elegant pair of finely chased gilt bronze vases.

Baluster shape, with a blue enameled body resting on a square base, decorated with festoons of fruit and leaves. The neck features a wreath of stylized leaves with hanging bunches of grapes. The handles are finely chased in the shape of intertwined serpents, and the chalice-shaped foot features lanceolate leaves, resting on a square base decorated with fluted panels. Signed and dated on the base “Henry Dasson 1882”.

Elegant base for a living room lamps and also a fine decorative piece for a table or a console table.

An important Parisian bronzesmith and cabinetmaker active in the second half of the 19th century, Henry Dasson is among the most celebrated exponents of the revival of 18th-century styles during the Second Empire and Third Republic. In 1871, he took over the atelier of Charles-Guillaume Winckelsen, continuing a tradition of the highest quality in the production of luxury furniture inspired by the models of the Louis XV and Louis XVI eras. His work is distinguished by the extraordinary quality of his finely chased gilded bronzes, often applied to furniture veneered in precious woods and decorated with rich marquetry.
He participated with great success at the Paris Universal Exhibitions, particularly those of 1878 and 1889, where he presented works of exceptional technical and decorative quality. His works are now held in important international museums, including the Musée du Louvre, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Thanks to his refined execution and faithfulness to eighteenth-century models, Henry Dasson is considered one of the most important masters of French cabinetmaking and bronze art.

This elegant French Napoleon III bureau plat, crafted in richly figured king wood veneer and embellished with finely chased gilt-bronze mounts throughout. The rectangular top is inset with its original tooled leather writing surface, framed by a molded gilt-bronze border.

The front is fitted with three drawers, each adorned with ornate gilt-bronze handles and foliate keyhole escutcheons. The four corners are mounted with striking half-length female caryatid figures, a signature decorative motif of the Napoleon III period. Gracefully curved cabriole legs terminate in gilt-bronze sabots.
Both sides are fully finished, allowing the desk to stand freely in the center of a room, with matching bronze profiles, foliate ornament, and central mascaron mounts to the reverse. The interior is constructed in oak, reflecting traditional French cabinetmaking practices.
A refined and highly decorative example of mid-19th century French furniture, combining luxury materials with exceptional craftsmanship.

Each with a circular top in finely polished black porphyry, raised on an elegant gilt bronze base. The frieze is adorned with a finely chiseled wave-patterned border. The supports are formed as twisted cord uprights terminating in finely cast griffin heads, with aquiline feet , elegant, symbolic detailing seen in elite decorative arts. The structure is united by a lower tier also in black porphyry , a luxury stone associated with imperial Rome and revived during Neoclassicism.

Elegant French 19th century , gilt bronze-mounted Mahogany Bonheur Du Jour , lady writing desk.
The shaped rectangular top and fitted with three drawers to the undulating frieze.
The desk is surmounted by a pierced galleried top.
Four reeded baluster legs extend from the main carcass towards the bottom shelf, while four fluted tapering toupie feet with ormolu sabots support the whole furniture piece.
A very elegant design, this multifunctional bonheur du jour would be a magnificent addition to both traditional and contemporary spaces.
